WFC 2014 has already broken records

12/3/2014 2:22:20 PM -

With only two days to go until the opening ceremony of World Floorball Championship, the sales record has already been broken.
– We have sold close to 110 000 tickets at the moment, says World Championship director Magnus Nilsson.

On Friday December 5th, it is time for the spectacular opening ceremony of the largest sport championship of the year in Sweden. The World Floorball Championships will, together with the Christmas City Gothenburg, be declared open at Götaplatsen at 5 o’clock with speeches and performances. It all starts at Gustav Adolfs Torg, where 16 youth teams will represent each participating nation and walk in a majestic procession of lights along Avenyn towards Götaplatsen.

We can already say with certainty that the Championship is a hit. In 2008, the World Championship was played in Czech Republic and a total of 104 018 tickets were sold to the event. That is no longer a record.

Six years later, it is broken by Sweden and Gothenburg.

– We have focused on this event’s primary target groups, young people in the ages of 20 to 25 and families. One of the things we have had to change in order to attract these two groups, and their help to break the record, has been to accommodate our prices to them, says director Magnus Nilsson and continues:

– We can now see that these prices also have attracted other target groups. We are reaching other fans and supporters who want to experience the WFC2014 live. The activities that we and our partners have set up, for example Fun Zone at Svenska Mässan (it is open December 11th through 14th and it is free) have also contributed to the increased interest. We are also convinced that many of the leftover tickets will be sold once the Championship is under way, the temptation of watching floorball of the highest quality live will get to a lot of people. The number of tickets sold will therefore not stop at 110 000.

There are only a couple of hundred tickets left for the final weekend, Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th of December.
