A great second period by Czech Republic made them the third best floorball nation in the world. The Czechs won the bronze match against Switzerland with 3-4 (2-0, 1-4, 0-0).
When the teams met in the group play, the Swiss goalkeeper Pascal Meiers played great and made sure the teams shared the points. Czech Republic controlled the game, but Switzerland started off the bronze match the best. Emanuel Antener scored 1-0 through a volley after just a minute and Patrick Mendelin increased the lead to 2-0 three minutes later in a period that did not have that many shot on goal.
Czech Republic had evened the score after about half of the second period, through two lucky shots. Switzerland in red replied instantly. Matthias Hofbauer got a chance and waited out the goalkeeper before calmly scoring 3-2. But the Czechs got their head back in the game. Patrik Doza scored 3-3 before Matej Jendrisak scored 3-4 in power play with only seven seconds left of the period.
The match was even until the end. Switzerland pushed to even the score which also gave Czech Republic chances. Pascal Meier got to do a couple of great saves to keep Switzerland in the match. Tomas Kafka got to do the same. The Chech goalkeeper veteran did not slip up and made sure his team took home to the bronze.
