USA advances after victory against Japan

12/8/2014 3:58:09 PM -

The Asian teams are having a hard time at the World Championships. Just like Korea earlier today, Japan suffered their second great defeat.  USA won with 1-9 (0-5, 0-0, 1-4). This means that USA are through to the play-offs.

The Americans were, without a doubt, the strongest team and followed their big victory against Korea with another big victory over Japan. After the first period the score was 0-5 and Japan did not have any shots at goal, leaving US goalkeeper Keven Glanzmann with nothing to do during the first 20 minutes.

The second period did not result in any goals and Japan played better even though they did not create many chances. They would however get some results in the third period. Ichiro Ueda managed to score on a rebound, but only after Stefan Zimmerman had increased USA’s lead to 0-6.
In the end, the score was 1-9.

The American victory does not only mean that they are in the play-offs, Slovakia will also move on from group C with one match remaining.
Tomorrow at 10:00, Slovakia and USA will play to determine the winner of the group.
