It was star against star.
On Wednesday, Valhalla arena in Gothenburg was filled with floorball-hungry sport personalities.
– It was great fun, said the Swedish football hero and two-goal shooter Thomas Ravelli.
The World Championship in floorball is fast approaching. On Wednesday, a floorball tournament was arranged in Gothenburg and three teams fought for glory – a professional team, a media team and a sports team, and the professionals prevailed.
Someone who was really impressive was former footballer Thomas Ravelli who scored two goals.
– It was an open goal, so it wasn’t that hard, he said afterwards and laughed.
His own experience with the sport is limited although he remembers when it first came to Sweden. He laughs and says:
– Yes I am so old I was here when floorball was born and I do remember that we used to play it in school. But apart from that I haven’t played much. However, I do keep track of the team Pixbo because I live in Mölnlycke and they play there.
Other familiar faces in the sports team was the two players, Emil Salomonsson and Hampus Zachrisson, from the football team IFK Göteborg as well as the athlete and European Championship silver-medalist Charlotte Fougberg.
The Canadian national team players Matt Smith, Joel Inouye and Spencer Ridgewell all played in the winning team, as well as Borås IBF’s player Alexander McVey who will represent the American national team during the World Championship.
You played alongside the Canadians; did you pick up something you can use if you meet them in the Championship?
– Yes I picked up a few of their tricks, where they want to play the ball and so on. I will definitely use that in the Championship! says Alexander McVey.
