Latvia beat Germany in an even fight

12/8/2014 10:14:00 PM -

Latvia and Germany squared off in the last match of the third day of the WFC. It was an even and great match where Latvia deservedly won 5-3 (0-1, 3-1, 2-1).

One of the twins, Dominic, has already done it twice. In the first period against Latvia, the other twin, Manuel Mucha, got to score as well. 0-1 to Germany and they were probably mighty happy to be in the lead after the first period. Because Latvia was the team in control of game, but a strong German defense worked together and thwarted all the attacks from the Latvian team as well as attacking fast themselves whenever they got the chance.

The control Latvia had over the game, gave some results in the second period. Anairs Juskevics showed his strength when he kept two defenders away and then scored a rebound, making the score 1-1. Soon afterwards, Arturs Jursevskis scored his well-deserved 2-1. The Germans did not give up and evened the score by Sascha Herlt. But Latvia had the last say when Artis Savin saw his ball end up in goal after a touch by a German player before the third period.

The match got even in the third period and when Latvia scored 4-2, Germany bounced back fast. They scored 4-3 only thirty seconds later by Benjamin Borth. There were only about ten minutes left of the game and Germany did everything to even the score. With only 90 seconds left, Germany removed their goalkeeper but after a match-ending mistake in the German defense, Latvian player Aleksandrs Abramovs could score the final goal of the match, which ended 5-3.
