Jensen, Danish hero in match against Russia

12/7/2014 4:01:53 PM -

It was a close and even match between Denmark and Russia. The biggest difference between the teams was Niklas Jensen, who led the team to victory with his three goals in the match that ended 5-1 to Denmark (1-1, 1-0, 3-0).

It was an even first period, where Denmark started off as the better team. Niklas Jensen scored a beautiful goal after about two minutes and the Danes controlled the game. The Russians worked their way in to the match and equaled 1-1 by Nikita Bryn, with a goal that was as beautiful as it was well deserved.

The match then went back and forth where Denmark came the closest to take the lead before the end of the first period.

The match was still very close in the second period and a penalty was needed to break the stalemate. When Alexander Sharapov got the first penalty of the match after 14 minutes, it did not take more than 30 seconds before Denmark took advantage of the situation. Niklas Jensen had time to zero in on the goal and scored his second goal of the match.

The Russians fought to equal in the third period but the Danes were the ones on top. Niklas Jensen started an attack and served Stefan Hedorf to an open goal and it was 3-1. Brian Nielsen then scored 4-1 in power play and Steffen Jensen concluded the scoring with his third goal of the match, which the Danes deservedly won 5-1.
