Full steam ahead for Czech Republic at the WFC and after tonight’s big win over Estonia, they are the winners of group B. The Czechs won over Estonia with a final score of 2-12 (1-4, 1-3, 0-5).

The Czechs were already through to the quarter-finals before tonight’s match, but they also had a shot at group victory if they won big against Estonia. Things started out well for Czech Republic who dominated the first period. Jiri Curney scored 0-1 and even though Patrik Markus evened the score with a cool penalty shot for Estonia, the match was mostly about Czech Republic. Matej Jendrisak, Martin Tokos and Jan Natov each scored after tremendous attacks and the Czechs finished the period with a 1-4 lead. The fact that the Estonian goalkeeper had 13 saves, and the Czech goalkeeper only one, during the first 20 minutes demonstrated the strength of the Czech team.

In the second period things did not get any easier for the Estonian team. They had some more opportunities to score and Sten Koiv actually made one, but only after the Czechs hade made three.

The score before the last period was 2-7 and in order to win the group Czech Republic needed two additional scores. They got five and the final score was 2-12, with Jan Natov scoring four of the goals. It is noteworthy that Estonian goalkeeper had an astonishing 34 saves during the match.
