Estonia was no match for Switzerland

12/7/2014 9:18:29 PM -

A few minutes of goal cavalcades in the beginning of the first two periods and Estonia was down for the count. Switzerland had no problem defeating Estonia with 7-2 (3-0, 3-1, 1-2) when the two teams entered the tournament.

Switzerland was off to a flying start against Estonia and scored twice in the second minute of the match. Estonia did keep pace with the Swiss after that, even if the team in red had possession of the ball the most. They also scored 3-0 before the end of the first period. Manuel Engel stood behind the goal and found Somin Stucki out on the left, Stucki shot right away and saw the ball find its way behind the Estonian goalkeeper Jarkko Saastamoinen.

Switzerland continued to control the match in the second period and continued to score rapidly as well. Three goals in three minutes led to a 6-0 lead. Estonia took a time-out when they got the opportunity to play five players to three, and it resulted in a consolation goal by Mats Tamme.

Estonia also scored the next goal. After an awful looking head collision between Switzerland’s Florian Kuchen and Estonia’s Jonas Thomsson, the latter stayed on the floor for a long time. Mats Tamme scored his, and his teams, second goal on the following free shot. Both teams scored one goal each which made Estonia the winner of the third period.
