Epic win for USA in match against Korea

12/7/2014 1:28:44 PM -

Korea and USA played their first matches of the Championship on Sunday. It was goals galore in the second period, that paved the way for USA’s epic win with the score 2-12 (0-2, 0-8, 2-2).

Korea held their ground well in the first period against USA, but their mistakes made them fall behind. First, they missed a pass in power play and Michael Binder could score 0-1 for USA despite being a player down. Randall Aa could easily score another goal after Korea dropped the ball on their side of the court.

It was all about USA in the second period. They doubled their lead in first minute and that was just the beginning. Korea, the lowest ranked team participating in the WFC2014, could just look on. USA had an eight goal lead before half of the second period was done. Before the end of the period the score was ten to nothing, after Robin Brown scored in the top corner with a long shot close to the half-way line and Ryan Winkler pushed in the ball after a save.

The match was already over before the last period had even started, but Korea shaped up and kept pace with the Americans. Also, both teams missed a penalty shot in the thirds period, which ended 2-2.
