12/8/2014 7:05:00 PM -

The teams are ranked three and four in the world and they met on Monday afternoon in Scandinavium. It was a close match where goalkeeper Pascal Meier and forward Matej Jendrisak saved a point for their teams in the clash that ended 2-2 (1-2, 0-0, 1-0).

Czech Republic, ranked four in the world, was at first the better of the two teams and forced Swiss goalkeeper Meier to make several great saves. Although, the two Czech penalties gave Switzerland the opportunity they had been looking for. Christoph Hofbauer’s ball landed in the net the second Czech Republic was back in full strength. A few minutes later, it was time again when Nico Scalvinoni scored a beautiful goal (0-2) in power play.

The Czechs got the opportunity to even out the score when they got a penalty shot with 30 seconds left of the first period. Jiri Curney, sure as can be, scored 1-2.

Czech Republic’s continued to control the game in the second period. And Pascal Meier continued to be on fire. Whenever the Swiss players failed to defend their goal, Meier stepped up. Switzerland was, however, not without chances and the team in white had more and more possession of the ball the longer the period went on.

Pascal Meier and his Switzerland gave in to the Czechs in the third period. After a long attack, the Czech Republic scored 2-2 by Matej Jendrisak with only three and a half minutes left of the game.
